Office Disagreements: Heating

People like different temperatures for their work environments so having the heating on or windows open can be the cause of disagreements between work colleagues. It can be hard to get the office to a temperature that everyone agrees on. A compromise is for people to wear jumpers or t-shirts depending on their preference.

Office Disagreements: Washing Up

So someone’s made all the drinks and everyone probably finishes theirs at different times. The question is who is going to do the washing up? Should each person wash their own cup or should someone take the time to wash them all? This can lead to another office disagreement if people have different views. And what about cups from meetings; who becomes responsible for them?

Office Disagreements: Lighting

People like different lighting to work at their computer in an office and others like to work in darker settings. If you have your own office then this obviously isn’t a problem but for shared offices, for example at a Birmingham office space complex, you may have shared lighting. Lamps are a good solution to this disagreement so find something that works so people who want light have light, and the dwellers of the dark and work in just the glow of their computer screens.

Office Disagreements: The Radio

Depending on what type of work environment you work in you may or may not have the radio on. If you work in a call based centre at a Birmingham office space where people are constantly taking phone calls, then it might not be a good idea to have music blaring out. So the first disagreement is whether to have the radio on or not. If it is decided that it is going to be on then that brings us to the next disagreement; what to listen to.

Important Office Items: The Computer

A large number of people spend the whole day sat in front of a monitor working on a computer and so it’s a staple feature on many desks in offices all over the world. The basic computer setup includes the tower, a monitor, keyboard and mouse but you may also have any number of peripherals such as a printer, second monitor and speakers. You may work in an office space where you are stationary at the same desk, all-day, everyday but there are some businesses that operate a hot desking policy where desks are kept completely clear so that people can move desks to allow easier collaboration. A common feature in most offices is to have computers sharing the same equipment such as printers via a wireless network.

Important Office Items: The Chair

You don’t want to be standing at your desk all day so your next item is something to sit on and a chair is one of the most important items to get right. If you have the wrong style of chair it could cause a number of injuries including back problems or eye sight problems if you are to close or too far away from a monitor. There are many different types of chairs for your office from the basic, standard sort that can be bought in bulk to kit out your Birmingham office space to large executive styles that tilt, twist and turn in every direction to offer you extreme comfort at work.

Important Office Items: The Desk

The first thing you’ll need is some sort of desk; somewhere to place all your other work items and to sit at during your working day. There are many different types and styles of desks to suit all office spaces. You can find long wooden ones suitable for multiple people, individual curved metal ones to sit flushly against a wall and even ones that combine together like a jigsaw to create your ideal office work space. Your working desk needs to be large enough to allow you to work effectively and give you enough room to do everything that you need to. Different people need different amounts of room, for example someone who just needs a computer will need less room then someone that uses both a computer and paper documents and has large files that they need regular access to.
